Ringgit ‘far from reflecting its fair value’ – BNM governor
Ringgit has strengthened somewhat but is being affected by "misperceptions" and "adverse sentiments"
The Malaysian ringgit is “far from reflecting its fair value”, Muhammad bin Ibrahim, governor of Bank Negara Malaysia, said in a speech on November 17.
Having plunged to its lowest point in more than a decade in November 2016, Ibrahim said the ringgit is now “strengthened”, “greatly stabilised” and “priced more efficiently and increasingly more reflective of Malaysia’s strong fundamentals”.
