People: Portugal’s central bank appoints new deputy governors

Portuguese board also gains two new members; economist joins RBI board

Portugal: The Bank of Portugal has appointed four people to its senior ranks, including two deputy governors, following approval from the council of ministers.

Both Elisa Ferreira and Luís Máximo dos Santos have assumed deputy governor roles and will remain in post for a period of five years. They are both former board members of the central bank and will replace Pedro Duarte Neves and José Ramalho.

Ferreira is a politician in Portugal’s Socialist Party, which is part of its governing
