Bundesbank vice-president says policymakers should tackle “excessive” risk-taking

The vice-president of the Deutsche Bundesbank has said the 2007 financial crisis still casts “long shadows” over growth and unemployment, emphasising the need for financial sector reform.

In a prepared statement for a panel at the Rencontres Economiques d’Aix-en-Provence, Claudia Buch says ”complete protection” against fluctuations from financial markets is not possible, and would actually “impair” critical market functions in terms of allocating resources.
