Bank of Canada governor says uncertainty surrounding US trade policies is harming investment in both Canada and Mexico
Uncertainty surrounding future trade agreements between the US and its neighbours – Canada and Mexico – poses a significant risk to future growth, the governor of the Bank of Canada has said.
Speaking in Mexico City on May 4, Stephen Poloz said firms were unlikely to invest when legislation surrounding the North American Free Trade Agreement (Nafta) remained unclear.
“We know that with protectionism, everybody loses eventually, including the country that puts the policies in place,” Poloz said
