National Bank of Ukraine denies governor is considering resignation

A spokeswoman from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has denied a local media report that governor Valeria Gontareva was seeking to resign.

A Ukrainian newspaper reported on February 25 that Gontareva had told Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko and International Monetary Fund managing director Christine Lagarde that she intended to resign. An NBU spokeswoman said this was not the case. A subsequent report also said former Ukrainian prime minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk had been offered the job by
