US Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen warned of the need to keep US fiscal policy on a "sustainable" path, in comments that could put her on a collision course with the administration of President Trump.

The outlook for US economic policy was "uncertain" and monetary policy was "not on a pre-set course", the Fed chair said yesterday (February 14). Changes in fiscal policy or other initiatives by the new Trump administration could "potentially affect the economic outlook", she added.
