Review urges BIS to curb dominance of ‘house view’ in research

Culture needs to be more "self-critical", external panel says

The Bank for International Settlements produces strong research but should find ways to reduce the dominance of the "house view", an external review has found.

A panel, comprising UK-based academics Franklin Allen and Charlie Bean, and former Central Bank of Chile governor José De Gregorio, visited the BIS to interview staff, and sent a survey to central bank governors, senior economists and academics who make use of BIS research.
