Barbados has failed to find growth balance, says governor
Further restrictions on spending needed to protect country’s reserves, says Worrell
Barbados has failed to find the correct balance between foreign exchange inflows and outflows needed to stabilise the economy and spur growth, the governor of the nation's central bank has said.
In the governor's latest economic letter, DeLisle Worrell said there was a need to "dampen" spending further, to protect the country's foreign reserves. In the past, the governor said, reserves have been used to "make up the difference" when growth has not occurred.
