Banks have still not fixed ‘poisonous mix’ of problems – BIS’s Borio
Almost a decade after the crisis, banks remain vulnerable, Claudio Borio says
Despite improved capital and liquidity, in many respects banks have failed to escape the "shadow" of the 2008 financial crisis, and many remain vulnerable, the Bank for International Settlements' (BIS) Claudio Borio said today (November 28).
The head of the BIS's monetary and economic department said there were both "stock" problems, with high levels of non-performing loans, and "flow" problems, related to banks' earnings capacity.
Part the reason problems were not dealt with sooner is countries
