The evolution of the exchange rate continues to represent the main risk for inflation, a deputy governor from the Bank of Mexico has said.

The possibility of a higher pass-through to prices has "increased" as a result of the "additional" peso depreciation in recent weeks, said Javier Guzmán Calafell on October 11.

Speaking in New York City, the deputy was concerned the upcoming US presidential election could place further pressure on the currency in the short term.
