Don’t underestimate East Africa’s potential, says Sarb deputy

A deputy governor of the South African Reserve Bank has said the region needs to recognise the "increasingly important role" East Africa is playing in driving growth.

Speaking at the IIF Africa Financial Summit today (September 30), Daniel Mminele noted East Africa benefitted from cheap oil, slowing inflation, lower interest rates, and an improved regulatory regime.

The deputy also stressed it was necessary for the continent to ensure there is "strict fiscal discipline" and that market-friendly
