Fed holds but two more dissenters call for hike
Case for hike is building, says Janet Yellen
The Federal Reserve is keeping its policy rate on hold a little longer, though more officials are pressing for a hike amid continued strong data.
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) was split 7-3 in favour of holding at the September 20–21 meeting, with Loretta Mester and Eric Rosengren joining Esther George in voting for a hike. George was the sole dissenter at the July FOMC meeting.
"We are generally pleased with how the US economy is doing," Fed chair Janet Yellen told a press conference
