A deputy governor of the South African Reserve Bank (Sarb) has said the "proverbial green shoots" of recovery may be starting to appear as commodity prices in the country begin to rise.

Speaking at the ICBC Standard Bank Africa Investor Conference in London, Francois Groepe acknowledged South Africa has had to contend with "more limited" macroeconomic policy space in recent times, with policy rates 200 basis points higher than they were at the start of 2014.
