Russian first deputy governor warns of dollarisation risks
“Lack of clear understanding” is driving growth in dollar loans, Yudaeva says
Russian companies are placing the economy at risk with their excessive demand for foreign currency-denominated loans, a senior figure at the Bank of Russia has said. "Dollarisation is a complex problem," Ksenia Yudaeva told an audience in Moscow on April 8.
There is a high volume of loans to Russian companies denominated in foreign exchange, Yudaeva said. This createa both macro and micro-level risks, she argued, as it endangers companies and magnifies exchange rate volatility.
