IMF staff praise Colombian policy mix as central bank hikes by another 25bp

Co-ordinated policy action is supporting “orderly adjustment”

Colombia's "proactive and co-ordinated" approach has helped the economy to absorb the recent oil-price shocks, International Monetary Fund staff said on March 18, the same day as the central bank hiked its policy rate again.

The Central Bank of Colombia's stance – beginning a tightening cycle in September 2015 that has delivered seven hikes so far – is bearing fruit, the IMF Article IV statement said.
