LatAm response to Fed sees two hikes
Mexico and Chile move in line with the United States
Chile and Mexico's central banks both hiked interest rates on December 17, as the region adjusted to the US Federal Reserve's decision to tighten policy the day before.
The Bank of Mexico, which last raised its policy rate in 2008, lifted it by 25 basis points to 3.25%. Earlier in the year it delayed its monetary policy meetings to allow a swift response to Fed announcements.
The Mexican peso was relatively stable in response to the move, firming slightly and reaching 17 per US dollar. The
