Europe lags US in leading global financial reform, economist says at ECB event

Eurozone nations over-represented on global bodies, Véron argues

The European Union (EU) is no longer the "world leader" in improving global financial regulation standards, a distinguished economist told a European Central Bank (ECB) forum on banking supervision on November 4.

Nicolas Véron, a fellow at the think-tank Bruegel, added eurozone nations were over-represented in several key bodies working on global financial reform, which may be creating tension with Asian policy-makers.
