Moldovan officials attack use of central bank as 'scapegoat'
Both top men will stay in place "with full powers" for three months
The outgoing governor and first deputy governor of the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) have accused Moldovan government officials of trying to delay a full investigation of an alleged $1 billion theft from the country's commercial banks.
An email from the NBM's spokesperson to Central Banking reveals the pair are also frustrated by what they consider political interference in the central bank's conduct of monetary and foreign exchange policy.
