BoJ’s Kiuchi warns 2% inflation unlikely ‘even in fiscal 2017’
Policy board member says annual inflation will remain around 0% for the time being
Bank of Japan (BoJ) policy board member Takahide Kiuchi today (September 3) argued annual inflation was unlikely to reach the central bank's 2% target "even in fiscal 2017".
In its latest monetary policy statement, published on August 7, the board said annual inflation – measured by the increase in the CPI, excluding fresh food items – would remain around 0% for "the time being".
