Atlanta Fed president highlights ‘cumulative evidence’ of economic recovery

Atlanta Federal Reserve president Dennis Lockhart said in a speech on August 10 that he was increasingly won over by the case for increasing the federal funds rate, insisting the point of liftoff "is close".

Lockhart told the Atlanta Press Club he had greater confidence in the resilience of the economy, "compared to even a few months ago", and the conditions necessary to begin tightening policy were falling into place.
