Varoufakis reveals covert plan for parallel Greek currency
Secret plan to create payment system using accounts attached to tax numbers
Former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis has revealed he established a small team earlier this year to design a parallel payment system under conditions of utmost secrecy.
The Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum today (July 27) released a recording of a conversation with Varoufakis at an event on July 16, in which he revealed the plans. The event was supposedly held under the Chatham House Rule, but the tape was published with the permission of the MP.
