Chicago Fed research charts fall in natural rate of unemployment
Group of economists find it is currently at or below 5%
The natural unemployment rate in the US is at or below 5%, according to a group of economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, suggesting there is still slack in the country's labour market.
In Chicago Fed Letter, published on May 8, Daniel Aaronson, Luojia Hu, Arian Seifoddini and Daniel Sullivan consider the impact of demographic and educational changes on unemployment trends.
