Fed updating supervisory guidance on community banks

Deputy director discusses landscape in hearing with subcommittee in House of Representatives

The Federal Reserve is likely to "eliminate" some of the supervisory guidance that applies to community and regional banks, according to the deputy director in its division of banking supervision and regulation.

"The Federal Reserve has several internal efforts underway aimed at providing regulatory relief for community banks," Maryann Hunter, the deputy director, told the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit, Committee on Financial Services last week.
