Argentines ask central bank for higher-denomination banknotes
Draft law for new 500 and 1,000 peso banknotes filled at the Senate
The Central Bank of Argentina could be forced to print higher-denomination banknotes as the country looks to get to grips with the environment of high inflation.
Three bankers' associations and a workers' union sent a letter to central bank governor Alejandro Vanoli at the end of March asking for the "immediate issuance of high-denomination banknotes".
Meanwhile Julio Cobos, a politician who served as vice-president from 2007 to 2011, has drafted a law that – if passed – would create banknotes
