Draghi defends ECB’s voting opacity
ECB president says there are benefits to not publishing a voting record
European Central Bank (ECB) president Mario Draghi yesterday defended the central bank's history of not publishing a record of governing council members' monetary policy votes.
In a speech that stressed the benefits of transparency by central banks, Draghi nevertheless said "not publishing a voting record allows members to support the decision of the committee, even if they may have personally preferred a different course of action."
