The Central Bank of Cyprus is commissioning a study into its organisational structure, fearing it is no longer fit for purpose.

It harbours concerns the structure and capabilities of the institution "might have not adequately evolved" with the "rapidly changing conditions" in the country.

Specifically, it references the country's eurozone membership, the internationalisation of its banking sector and the launch of the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM).
