Brazil central bank director vows quick response to inflation

Central bank estimates inflation of 6.3% in 2014

Brazil's central bank will quickly adjust monetary policy if needed to battle inflation, though policy-makers have, for the moment, ruled out lowering interest rates.

"If the inflation outlook requires it, [a change in] monetary policy should be and will be promptly triggered," says Carlos Hamilton Araújo, director of economic policies of the central bank.
