ECB hiring consultant to help design ABS programme

President Draghi praises 'swift and effective' treatment of BES

The European Central Bank is looking to hire an outside consultant to help it design a programme for purchasing asset-backed securities (ABSs) – though Mario Draghi insists there has not been a "final decision" on whether or not to use the programme when it's complete.

In June, the ECB launched a package of measures to fight low inflation in the eurozone, one of which was the "intensification" of preparatory work related to the "outright purchases" of ABSs.
