King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has appointed Abdulaziz Saleh Al-Furaih vice-governor of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (Sama) by decree, the central bank said on Tuesday.

Sama is the world's third-biggest central bank by foreign reserves, surpassed only by the People's Bank of China and the Bank of Japan. It held more than $713 billion in foreign reserves last August, according to a CentralBanking.com estimate.
