Bad news in US and Europe calms emerging markets, says Banxico deputy

Manuel Sanchez notes portfolio flows to emerging markets has recently regained steam

Market calm in emerging markets "seems to increase with bad news from the pace of recovery in advanced economies", Bank of Mexico deputy governor Manuel Sanchez said at a seminar in Schloss Spiez, Switzerland this week.

Sanchez noted that portfolio capital flows to emerging markets had "recently regained steam", with foreign holdings of local currency government bonds having rebounded and private‐sector access to market financing continuing to trend upwards.
