Stanley Fischer confirmed as Fed vice chair, as Brainard joins the board
Lael Brainard and Jerome Powell also pass Senate votes yesterday
The US Senate yesterday confirmed Stanley Fischer as vice chair of the Federal Reserve by a vote of 63 to 24. The former head of the bank of Israel was sworn in as Fed governor on May 28.
The Senate also confirmed Lael Brainard, a former US Treasury under-secretary, to the Fed's board of governors by a vote of 61 to 31. Jerome Powell, a current governor whose official term expired earlier this year, was reappointed by a vote of 67 to 24.
