Nouy says SSM will bring ‘positive effects’ for Nordic banks

Danièle Nouy reassures Nordic countries at Finnish conference

Danièle Nouy insisted the single supervisory mechanism (SSM) will bring "immediate positive effects" for Nordic banks today, regardless of whether they fall under the European Central Bank's (ECB) supervisory umbrella.

The largest banks in Finland will be supervised by the ECB from November while, as it stands, the largest banks in Denmark and Sweden will not. Both countries can opt in to the SSM, but it looks unlikely that either will.
