Nigerian parliament confirms Emefiele as Sanusi's successor
Godwin Emefiele, head of Zenith Bank, will be next governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria
Godwin Emefiele, managing director of Nigeria's third biggest bank, will succeed Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the governor of the central bank, after he was confirmed today by the Nigerian parliament's upper house.
Emefiele, who heads Zenith Bank, was nominated by Nigeria's president Goodluck Jonathan in February, after Sanusi was suspended for repeatedly accusing Nigeria's state oil corporation of embezzling billions of dollars in revenue. Emefiele, 52, is expected to take over from acting governor
