IMF tells Turkey to fix flawed monetary policy framework

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has criticised the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey's (CBRT) monetary policy framework, telling the central bank it must focus on fewer objectives if it is to rein in high inflation.

In a statement published on Friday, the IMF said there was an urgent need for the central bank to establish a solid nominal anchor. "In the short run, the monetary stance and framework should focus squarely on inflation," it said.
