Bank of Finland deputy calls on Denmark and Sweden to join the SSM
Bank of Finland deputy governor Pentti Hakkarainen yesterday called on Denmark and Sweden – both outside of the eurozone – to opt in to the forthcoming Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM).
Speaking at Mansion House in London, Hakkarainen said the European banking sector would benefit from unified regulatory structures across the continent, and insisted the Nordic region "should certainly be no exception".
Hakkarainen argued that a "strong Nordic dimension in the banking union would be a positive
