Ingves wants Riksbank monopoly over macro-prudential policy

Stefan Ingves today appealed for the Sveriges Riksbank to be given sole responsibility for macro-prudential policy in Sweden.

The country's financial crisis committee proposed in January that the Riksbank and the Swedish financial services authority (FSA) share the responsibility for macro-prudential policy. Ingves told an audience in Stockholm this arrangement could "give rise to ambiguity about who should act" and result in indecision.
