Belgian supervisor warns against Basel III over-simplification
Simplifying Basel III will not resolve all of the difficulties surrounding the implementation of the capital requirements and their impact on the structure of banks, according to Rudi Bonte, the National Bank of Belgium's special representative for banking supervision.
Speaking today at the OpRisk Europe 2013 conference in London, Bonte suggested the Basel Committee should take a "moderate" stance on the trade-off between simplicity and complexity when finalising the Basel III accord. Bonte
