Riksbank deputy Lars Svensson steps down

larssvensson

Lars Svensson, a Sveriges Riksbank deputy governor, will leave the central bank when his term expires in May after an ultimately futile two-year campaign to win governor Stefan Ingves and other members of the executive board round to his view on monetary policy.

Svensson has cited his failure to "get support for a monetary policy that I consider would lead to better target fulfilment, with both higher inflation closer to the target of 2% and lower unemployment" as the reason for his departure.
