EBA positive on capital buffer progress

Banks in Europe have made good progress towards implementing a sufficient buffer of core Tier I capital, a report by the European Banking Authority (EBA) has found.

A total of 71 European banks took part in the exercise, which required them to achieve a 9% core capital ratio by June 2012.
