US households face growing shortfall in banking services, FDIC survey finds
The number of households in the United States defined as 'unbanked' or 'underbanked' is on the rise, with non-Asian minorities, lower-income households, younger households and unemployed households most affected, according to a biennial report by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Some 68 million individuals in 34 million homes in the US are not receiving adequate banking services.
