Draghi pulls out of Jackson Hole speech

The president of the European Central Bank (ECB), Mario Draghi, has decided not to travel to the US to take part in the Federal Reserve's annual Jackson Hole economic symposium. An ECB spokesperson confirmed the decision was due to "the heavy workload foreseen in the next few days".

Draghi had been scheduled to deliver a speech at the event organised by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City on Saturday. The appearance would have been just five days before the next ECB rate decision
