Romanian governor examines monetary policy transitions

The governor of the National Bank of Romania, Mugur Isărescu, has delivered a speech in which he examined the changes made to Romanian monetary policy during "transition years", when policy was adapted to changes in the economic environment.

Speaking at the European Association for Banking and Financial History Annual Conference in Bucharest, Isărescu said Romanian monetary policy had responded to many "paradigm shifts" over the past two decades, moving from monetary targeting to inflation
