Business confidence remains low in Japan

The Bank of Japan's (BoJ) latest Tankan survey of Japanese companies shows that confidence levels remain in negative territory and unchanged since the last survey was published in December.

The headline figure on business conditions showed respondents on average were not confident about the prospects of the Japanese economy in the coming quarter. The survey also showed there had been no increase in the levels of confidence since the last Tankan survey results. In both the December and April
