Israel’s Fischer defends banking costs

The governor of the Bank of Israel, Stanley Fischer, delivered a speech on March 21 that offered support to the banking sector over keeping banking fees realistic.

Speaking to the Knesset Economic Affairs Committee on the costs in Israel's banking system, Fischer said: "Israel has seen an ongoing weakening of the banking system, and we must not think along the populist line that we can continue to reduce bank costs indefinitely without this affecting the stability of the system."
