Shirakawa compares Bank of Japan’s inflation goal to Fed's

The governor of the Bank of Japan, Masaaki Shirakawa, today (February 17) explained recent policy announcements from the central bank and compared the new inflation goal to the one introduced by the Federal Reserve.

In a speech titled 'The Bank of Japan's Efforts toward Overcoming Deflation', delivered at the Japan National Press Club in Tokyo, the governor took his time describing in detail the central bank's thought process behind recent policy decisions.
