BoJ report warns of pause in economic activity

The Bank of Japan's Regional Economic Report published on January 16 says there is evidence of a pause in economic activity in some regions during the last quarter due to a slowdown in economic activity overseas.

The report says seven regions – Hokkaido, Hokuriku, Kanto-Koshinetsu, Tokai, Kinki, Chugoku and Kyushu-Okinawa – reported that the pace of the pick-up in activity was either moderating, the pick-up appeared to be pausing, or the economy had paused.

However, some regions reported signs
