UK mortgage lending slows: BoE data

Data released by the Bank of England on Monday shows the amount of loans extended to households by banks declined in September, ending a steady recovery in mortgage lending this year.

The amount of house purchases fell by £200 million ($320 million), from £5.9 billion in August to £5.7 billion in September, according the Bank of England's Trends in Lending. House purchases in the UK increased by 28% in the eight months prior to August. However, the data shows the issuance of mortgages has peaked
