RBI paper reviews financial inclusion policies in India

A Reserve Bank of India paper published on Monday says programmes to increase access to bank accounts in West Bengal have had limited success and that further policies are necessary to improve financial inclusion in the country.

Sadhan Kumar Chattopadhyay, the paper's author, is conducting a case study on financial inclusion in India's West Bengal region using an index of financial inclusion. A survey to gauge financial inclusion in the area showed 35% of the respondents did not have sufficient
