Government representative quits Costa Rica’s board

Kattya Araya, the government representative on the Central Bank of Costa Rica's governing board, resigned on Monday.

Araya's resignation left the central bank's board of directors without the power to make some decisions.

"[The] resignation does not have any effect on the monetary or economy policies," Jorge Eduardo Monge, the secretary-general of the central bank told CentralBanking.com.

"According to the Organic Act of the Central Bank of Costa Rica, [the board] can continue its normal
