Afghan central bank reacts to critical report
The governor of the Central Bank of Afghanistan on Monday responded to damning criticism of his agency's handling of the troubles at Kabul Bank last year.
President Hamid Karzai had appointed a panel to look into the large-scale fraud that was uncovered at Kabul Bank, Afghanistan's largest private bank. The report submitted on Sunday claimed the central bank was at fault in its supervision of the bank and levied harsh criticism on the governor, Abdul Qadir Fitrat.
In a press conference on Monday
